I am the Senior Associate Director of the Aydelotte Foundation at Swarthmore College. In addition to my work at the Aydelotte, I am the author of Outside Literary Studies: Black Criticism and the University (University of Chicago Press), which investigates how midcentury Black left writers forged critical practice and interpretive institutions against the racism and anticommunism of the New Critical university and the U.S. state. I am editing a keywords collection on the university and I am writing a book about socialist and Communist institutions of adult education. My teaching has covered the intersection of Black studies, critical ethnic studies, urban studies, critical university studies, and literary studies. You can look at my cv or contact me.
